Nancy Sterett Martin is an Interior Designer, artist and a quilter from Owensboro, Kentucky. She first discovered quilting as an art form after attending a few quilt shows in the mid-nineties. With her 41 years in interior design, along with owning and managing a custom drapery workroom, her resulting knowledge of fabrics gave her an edge to easily make the transition into the quilt world.
Using techniques such as fabric manipulation, beading, applique, airbrushing, silk screening, and many other types of embellishments, Nancy focused on creating contemporary art quilts. She enjoys the whole process, which includes sewing, drafting her designs, and dyeing and painting most of her fabrics.
When we asked about her favorite quilt or wallhanging, she claims it's always the "next one" she is going to create. According to Nancy, her journey is just beginning, and her goal is to live long enough to sew up all of her stash! (Frankly, that could be a very long time.)
This website is not only a place to view Nancy's artwork, but also discover what inspires her and to share in her experiences as an artist.
